Barog is a small village located in the Solan district at a height of 1560 m. Barog is famously known for possessing one of the longest tunnels, 1143 m long. It is the longest among the 103 tunnels in the Kalka- Shimla route, and the train takes 2-3 minutes to pass through the whole tunnel. The village is named after Col Barog who was one of the engineers building the railway tracks. The wide variety of flora and fauna are an added attraction to this place. One of the famous tourist attractions here is the Choor Chandni Peak near Barog which offers a great view as well as a nice picnic spot.
