Sir Henry Lawrence

The foundation of the 150-year old cantonment town of Kasauli can be traced back to the efforts of Sir Henry Lawrence and his wife, Mrs. Honoria Lawrence. They both shared a vision to create an institute of holistic education, the result of which was the famous Lawrence School at Sanawar. The School started with 14 boys and girls on 17th April 1847 and grew to strength of 195 pupils by 1853. Lawrence school is spread over a sprawling campus covering 139 acres lined with lush green forests of pine, oak and chest-wood trees, which provide for an enchanting learning and a holistic development of a student’s personality.
