Kasauli Brewery

Kasauli Brewery is the world’s largest distillery, located in the fringes of Kasauli town. The Kasauli distillery and brewery were established in the late 1820s at Kasauli by Edward Dyer. He brought brewing and distilling equipment from England and Scotland. This equipment came by sailing ship then it gets loaded onto ox drawn carts and taken to the Himalayas via Shimla. The copper pot stills-the original equipment are still in use today. Edward Dyer selected the location of his brewery/distillery as there is fine spring water available there and because the climate at this altitude was similar to the climate of Scotland. His stated ambition was “to produce a malt whisky as fine as Scotch whisky,”
